| CAL e-News November 26, 2009, Taipei, Taiwan ˇVChina Airlines proudly accomplished the Green House Gas (GHG) Inventory and Verification for aviation sector jointly developed with the Environmental Protection Admission of Executive Yuan (EPA). CAL becomes the first airline in Taiwan to receive such a certificate at the premier level, representing our determination to take a major part in global environmental protection. CAL started deploying its Environmental Affairs Working Group (EAWG) in May 2007, aiming at reducing fuel consumption, carbon emission, energy consumption and maintenance waste, targeting as the four primary objectives of our corporate environmental protection projects to improve Eco-efficiency. To cope with the emerging global warming crisis and the Kyoto Protocol, major nations have committed to take measures in reducing carbon emissions. The first step of which is to accurately establish data for the level of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through effective inventory verification, and a better understanding of the latitude for such a reduction within industries, conducting subsequent reduction methodology. Together with the EPA, the environmental Science Technology Consultant Corporation and Det Norske Veritas Certification, CAL thoroughly assessed its air operations, ground service and administrative for GHG emission. In the span between April and September 2009, CAL implemented gas inventory and verification process covering six main aspects of GHG emission quantification, monitoring and reporting for the year 2008, and is honored to receive this epoch-making award on Nov. 24, 2009ˇC
