China Airlines donates another NT$ 1 million
To help build homes for children with HIV/AIDS

March 31, 2008, Taipei, Taiwan - CAL announced today that it has donated NT$ 1 million to the non-profit “Harmony Home Association, Taiwan” (HHAT), a group that builds and maintains shelters for local children orphaned by HIV/AIDS.

The announcement was made at a donation ceremony attended by China Airlines Chairman and President Ringo Chao, and officials representing the authorities concerned, including the Health Department of the Executive Yuan, and the Social Affairs Department of the Taipei City Government.

“China Airlines is moving toward its 50th year of operation in 2009 as Taiwan’s largest international airlines, and none of it would have happened without continuous support from our society and our passengers,” said Mr. Chao at the event. “To extend our gratitude, we at China Airlines are fully committed to fulfilling our corporate social responsibilities. In 2007, CAL made donations to World Vision Taiwan, and to youth baseball teams. This year China Airlines will continue to donate to charity. HHAT has been devoted to helping people suffering from HIV/AIDS for the past 20 years in Taiwan, and we are pleased to be able to contribute one million dollars to assist HHAT’s worthwhile efforts. We hope this move will generate additional help and support from the public, and other corporations.“

In addition to the donation, China Airlines gave away 150 tickets to underprivileged children for the upcoming performance “The Unforgettable Legend,” to help them celebrate Children’s Day on April 4.
