China Airlines to Launch Kaohsiung-Chiang Mai Service

April 4, 2007, Taipei, Taiwan ¡V In response to travel demand in southern Taiwan, China Airlines will inaugurate a new Kaohsiung-Chiang Mai passenger service on April 18, with three flights per week, using a Boeing B737-800 jet. This will be CAL¡¦s second passenger service to Chiang Mai, following the launch of its Taipei-Chiang Mai flights in March, 2005.

On the new Kaohsiung-Chiang Mai route, CAL will operate a two class service, with eight seats in Dynasty Class and 150 seats in Economy Class. Chiang Mai-bound flight CI 691 will depart Kaohsiung every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday at 07:00 and arrive at Chiang Mai International Airport at 09:35. The return flight, CI 692, will leave the same day at 10:25 from Chiang Mai, and arrive in Kaohsiung at 14:50.

Chiang Mai province is located in northern Thailand, and has a population of 1.5 million, and an area of more than 10,000 square kilometers. Chiang Mai city is the largest city in northern Thailand and the second largest in Thailand. The Thailand government has aggressively developed Chiang Mai into the country¡¦s second air transport hub, along with Bangkok. Due to its cooler climate and exotic culture, Chiang Mai has become a popular tourist destination in recent years.

China Airlines provides four Dynasty package tours to Chiang Mai and northern Thailand. Details of these package tours can be found on the China Airlines website (www.china-airlines.com).

In addition to inaugurating the new Kaohsiung-Chiang Mai route, China Airlines increased flight frequencies on the Taipei-Frankfurt route to six flights per week in early March. On the summer schedule beginning March 25, the Taipei-Honolulu nonstop route increased to three flights per week, the Taipei-Seattle-Houston route to four flights per week and the Taipei-Phuket route increased from three flights per week to one flight every two days. From May 7, the Taipei-Phnom Penh route will be increased to seven flights per week.
