October 18, 2004, Taipei, Taiwan – China Airlines and
ABN-Amro Bank today launch a new co-branded platinum credit card
that allows users to accumulate frequent flyer mileage, enjoy free
parking at CKS Airport, and take free luxury car rides to the
airport.
“This cross industry cooperation provides a win-win
opportunity for our customers, and for both enterprises as
well,” said Mr. Alex Liu, China Airlines’ Vice President for
Passenger Sales. “By using the new co-branded platinum card,
consumers can accumulate mileage and enjoy the premium services of
two fine companies.”
While other credit cards issued in Taiwan require at least
NT$40 in exchange for a single air mile, the new co-branded
platinum card only requires NT$25 in exchange for one mile on
CAL’s Dynasty Flyer Program. Other cardholder privileges include
free parking at Taipei’s CKS Airport for 20 days each year, and
free transportation to the airport in a luxury sedan. In addition,
cardholders do not need to pay the annual fee for the first year.
China Airlines is offering a series of promotions to support
the new co-branded platinum card. From now until the end of
January 2005, cardholders can enjoy NT$1,888 discounts on long
haul flights and NT$888 discounts on short haul flights when
purchasing China Airlines Economy Class tickets using the new
co-branded platinum card. In addition, an extra 1,000 to 2,000
miles will be awarded for each trip. Cardholders can also enjoy
NT$1,000 to NT$6,000 discounts when purchasing First or Dynasty
Class tickets.
CAL’s extensive route network — it flies to 39 destinations
and offers more than 700 flights per week — and its code-share
services with other carriers, including Delta Air Lines, Alitalia,
and Thai Airways, provide many opportunities to accumulate
mileage. In 2000, China Airlines and ABN-Amro Bank launched their
first co-branded card, and it is currently the most popular
airline co-branded card in Taiwan. China Airlines Dynasty Flyer
Program has more than 1.6 million members, with 4-level scheme of
membership, including Paragon, Emerald, Gold and Dynasty. More
than 1.1 million people use ABN-Amro Bank credit cards, and the
new cooperation between China Airlines and ABN-Amro will provide a
further level of service for consumers.
