China Airlines announced its 2004 winter schedule,
which will be effective from October 31, 2004 to March 26, 2005.
During this period, flight frequencies from Taipei to Seattle and
Houston will be increased. Earlier on October 16, the Taipei-Sydney
and Taipei-Brisbane routes will each gain one additional flight
per week. Compared with the same period last year, traffic capacity
on the new winter schedule will increase 5.8%.
In the new winter schedule, the Australia-bound flights will be
increased from 6 to 8 flights per week. In January 2005, the Seattle
and Houston-bound flight will be increased from 3 to 4 flights per
week, and Rome-bound flights from 3 to 4 flights per week.
The newly introduced A330-300 fleet will serve the Taipei-Tokyo
and Taipei-Jakarta routes. From January 2005, B747-400 aircraft
will be used on the Taipei-New York service.
In addition, during the winter schedule period, China Airlines
will have daily charter flights from Taipei to Japan. There will
also be weekly charter flights from Kaohsiung to Japan and Korea.
China Airlines has worked aggressively to expand its network
in 2004. It inaugurated new services to Hiroshima, Seattle and
Houston, and started two-way code-share services with Delta Air
Lines. It also increased flight frequencies on the Taipei-Hanoi
route, the Taipei-Kaohsiung feeder route, and the routes from
Kaohsiung to Southeast Asia destinations. As before, China Airlines
has code-share cooperation with Alitalia, Thai International,
Vietnam Airlines and Garuda Indonesia, in addition to Delta.
China Airlines operates a modern fleet of 62 aircraft and flies
to 47 destinations in 21 countries. The average age of its fleet
is just 5.8 years, one of the youngest in the world.
