September 2, 2004, Taipei, Taiwan – As part
of its ongoing effort to attract more Japanese tourists to Taiwan,
China Airlines is teamed up with Taiwan Tourism Bureau launching
an advertising campaign that will reach both Japanese television
consumers, and passengers on the Japan Rail system.
China Airlines, working closely with the Taiwan Tourism Bureau
and partners from other Taiwanese tourism industry, is advertising
in passenger cabins on the Yamanote line of the Japan Rail system.
The Japan Rail cabin advertisements are running from September 1
to 30. During this period, all 11 cabins of a JR Yamanote line
train are decorated like Taiwanese theater, with a poster image of
the China Airlines flight attendants and a caption that reads:
“China Airlines welcomes you to Taiwan.” The Yamanote line is
the major Japan Rail line in Tokyo, with daily traffic of 3.6
million passengers.
China Airlines spokesperson Roger Han and officials of the
Taiwan government participated in the inauguration ceremony on
September 3. The highlights of the ceremony were aboriginal
dancing and a lucky draw for an aircraft model, oolong tea and tea
snacks to promote 2004 Visit Taiwan Year.
China Airlines operates regular services with 53 weekly flights
to five destinations in Japan – Tokyo, Nagoya, Fukuoka,
Hiroshima and Okinawa. In addition to those regular services,
China Airlines also operates extra flights and charter services to
popular destinations in Japan from Taipei and Kaohsiung.
