August 5, 2004, Taipei, Taiwan- In order to
maximize market opportunities and provide greater service to its
freight customers, China Airlines has launched a new, state-of-the-art
Cargo Status Automated Notification System. Using the new system,
airfreight forwarders can secure the most up-to-date status on
their cargo shipments, without approaching China Airlines. This
is another innovative service, following CAL's successful introduction
of the Cargo B2Bi Platform.
Airfreight forwarders only need to register in the China Airlines
website, and leave their E-mail addresses. They can choose from
immediate or fixed-time transmission to receive, via E-mail, the
latest status of their cargo shipments. This new service will
save large amounts of time, and reduce telephone and fax bills.
Combining the Cargo Status Automated Notification System and
the China Airlines Cargo B2Bi Platform, airfreight forwarders
now enjoy full information exchange, and enhanced efficiency in
the cargo forwarding service chain.
In the future, China Airlines will expand the services of the
Cargo Status Automated Notification System, to provide information
on warehousing, US customs, and truck transportation.
China Airlines operates a modern fleet of 63 aircraft, and flies
to 47 destinations in 21 countries. It also operates the largest
B747-400F freighter fleet in the world, with 16 dedicated B747-400F
aircraft. According to IATA statistics in 2003, CAL was ranked
7th in the world in terms of international air cargo traffic carried.
