China Airlines Selects New Chairman

July 28, 2004, Taipei, Taiwan – At a meeting on July 28, the Board of Directors of China Airlines voted to appoint Mr. Yao-Chung Chiang the Chairman of the Board for the company. Chairman Chiang’s predecessor, Mr. Yun-ling Lee was invited to stay as a Board member. A ceremony of hand-over will take place on July 29.

Mr. Yao-Chung Chiang was born in 1952 and obtained a Ph.D. degree of Mechanical Engineering from University of Wisconsin, Madison. Prior to joining China Airlines, Mr. Chiang is the Vice Chairman of Public Construction Commission since May 2000. Mr. Chiang has solid experience in the fields of transportation, public construction and business management. His professional career include Director General, Deputy Director General and Chief Engineer of Department of Rapid Transit Systems, Taipei City Government, Board member of Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation, Director and Research Fellow of Chung Shan Institute of Science and Technology.
