July 19, 2004, Taipei, Taiwan – As an ongoing
effort to better serve its cherished clients in southern Taiwan,
China Airlines will add three weekly flights from Kaohsiung to
Kuala Lumpur, one weekly flight from Kaohsiung to Singapore and
three weekly charter flights from Kaohsiung to Sapporo starting
from August 1.
After the frequency increase, CAL’s Kaohsiung – Kuala Lumpur
route will have five flights per week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays,
Fridays and Saturdays. The Kaohsiung – Singapore route will have
four flights per week, every Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
From August 1, China Airlines will provide about double the original
capacity.
Due to the strong market demand of Taiwanese tourists, China
Airlines will inaugurate regular Kaohsiung – Sapporo chartered
flights every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, also on August 1.
CAL began operating Hokkaido charter services in 1998, with more
than 200 flights per year. It now provides a seasonal daily charter
flight to Hokkaido during the summer.
In 1971, CAL launched international services from Kaohsiung,
and it now flies from Kaohsiung to Hong Kong, Manila, Bangkok,
Phuket, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Jakarta, plus charters to
Japan. In addition, CAL cooperates with Vietnam Airlines on Kaohsiung
– Ho Chi Minh City. China Airlines is the largest carrier on Kaohsiung
international services with 35% of market share.
