June 29, 2004, Taipei, Taiwan – China Airlines is taking delivery
of the first of an eventual 14 new A330-300s today, equipped with
a high-tech AVOD (audio video on demand) system entertainment,
and a redesigned passenger cabin that features the latest concepts
in passenger comfort.
The newly designed Dynasty Supreme Class features extended pitch
and advanced shell-shaped seats, which offer more comfort and
privacy for passengers. The new leather seats feature an ergonomic
design that includes an adjustable headrest, adjustable air cushions,
and electric lumbar support. Additional features include an LED
reading light, PC socket, folding table, make-up mirror, noise-reducing
headset, and a convenient seatback rack for tiny personal belonging.
Economy Class also features many passenger-friendly innovations.
These include a wider footrest, a 6.5 inch personal video screen,
PC socket, oval table, personal storage compartment, make-up mirror
and enlarged baggage rack. The newly introduced adjustable air
lumbar support provides added support and comfort for the lower
back.
Dedicated wheelchairs and disable-friendly toilet are installed
for handicapped passengers. Overall, the A330-300’s next-generation
cabin design and lighting systems create a more relaxed and spacious
feeling.
China Airlines will introduce its new, high-tech AVOD (audio
video on demand) system on its A330-300 and A340-300 fleet. The
wide choice of entertainment includes 24 movies and short features,
40 music CDs, 15 video games and 15 music channels, available
in English, Chinese and Japanese. In-flight exercise programs,
English and Chinese news, and flight information can be chosen
on the video channels. Passengers can select the entertainment
program with the liberty of their owne choices and schedules.
Passengers can self-edit from music selection through “My Play
List” feature. The new system will enable passengers of China
Airlines to enjoy an unsurpassed in-flight entertainment experience.
