March 25, 2004, Taipei, Taiwan- In order to
meet manpower demand arising from the introduction of new aircraft
and the inauguration of new passenger and cargo destinations,
China Airlines plans to recruit 100 Ab-initio pilots, 80 flight
attendants, and additional aircraft maintenance professionals

China Airlines will introduce seven aircraft this year and will
inaugurate new passenger services to Seattle, Houston and Hiroshima.
In response to the operations growth and rising manpower demand,
China Airlines has decided to recruit new staff.
Since 1988, more than 300 Ab-initio pilots have successfully
completed the China Airlines training program, and they now account
for one-third of the carrier!|s flight crew, including eight female
pilots. Qualified applicants for pilot recruitment will need to
pass equipment check, written, and oral tests before being accepted.
Successful candidates will then be sent to Australia for 11 months
of initial training on small aircraft. After that, another year
of training will focus on airline pre-qualification training,
line training, ground training and simulator training.
CAL's in-flight service has earned recognition for its outstanding
quality. The recruiting for new flight attendants will be held
in April. Finalists are required to pass a series of tests including
physical, psychological and language. For this year, those with
nursing experience and Italian communications ability will have
an advantage.
The China Airlines maintenance center has more than 2000 professional
aircraft maintenance technicians and engineers. Current openings
include self-trained maintenance technicians, aircraft inspectors
and engine maintenance staff. The recruitment test will be held
in April.
