February 5, 2004, Taipei, Taiwan- After successfully
securing maintenance contracts from Dragonair, Air China and Shanghai
Airlines, China Airlines has won a 3-year contract to overhaul
the PW 4056 and 4060 engines in the Royal Brunei Airlines Boeing
767 fleet, in a deal worth US$ 25 million. China Airlines outbeated
major maintenance suppliers over a highly competitive evaluation
process since July 2003.
Established in 1974, Royal Brunei Airlines now operates a fleet
of eight B767-300ERs, one B757-200 and two A319s. It provides
scheduled flights to 23 destinations across Asia, the Middle East,
Australia and Europe, including 3 weekly flights to Taipei.
China Airlines owns and operates the most modern and largest
aircraft maintenance factory in Asia. In addition to maintaining
its own fleet of 59 aircraft, CAL also provides maintenance service
to Dragonair!|s B747 fleet, Air China!|s B747 fleet, Shanghai
Airlines!| B767 fleet and Mandarin Airlines and ROC Air Force!|s
B737 fleet. These contracts bring in US$ 40 million in annual
revenue for China Airlines. Winning the Royal Brunei maintenance
contract confirms China Airlines!| quality maintenance and management
capabilities, and indicates that China Airlines maintenance facilities
have reached world-class standards.
